We blasted off to the beach today to capitalize on blue skies and mild temperatures. The kids played in the sand for hours. Navelle and I built a sand castle and she decorated it with bits of shell that she found on the beach. Arthur experienced the sand with his whole body, as a human bulldozer.
For lunch, we visited Bob and Cindy and saw their new, unique, handmade, ocean-inspired interior lighting project. Wowza! The photo doesn't do it justice, but the effect is a colorful arrangement of jellyfish floating from the ceiling, some lighted. I can't wait to see it at night. Cindy used objects found on the beach (like bits of plastic or shells), yarn, and other small treasures to make each one a work of art.

AS A CONTRAST...
Gabe is in New York visiting with his family. They are in the middle of an arctic blast, with temperatures hovering at -1 degrees F, and five feet of snow and falling. Gabe is loving it! He's snowshoeing with his brothers, walking on the frozen lake, sledding with his nieces and nephews, huddling around the wood stove for family dinners, and staying up into the wee hours of the night talking and talking. As we were out on the beach he was out in the snow. Here are a few photos he sent:
