Spring Chickens

We went to visit our friends who have a little farm. They showed Navelle turkeys that gobbled and pigeons that cooed and geese that honked and goats that bleated and ducks that quacked and chickens that clucked. Then, to our delight, they showed us a box full of day-old peeping chicks, fluffy and soft and round and new. Navelle got to hold one in her hands and she really liked that. Then she played with the gigantic, furry, black dog and looked at tropical fish in the 150-gallon aquarium. Wow! such excitement. It took Navelle almost an hour to fall asleep that night since she had so much to process. After we put her to bed and we heard her (via the baby monitor) talking in her crib: "hold it, chick" and "geese honk honk" and "saw rooster."
Navelle in the chicken coop. She made herself at home and just sat down in the straw to look around.

We got to hold a chick. So cute!
