We went to Albuquerque to visit Lina's dad. Lina's brother and sister-in-law went at the same time, so we had a nice chance to visit with family for a long weekend.
This is the view of the sunrise from the house. and, yes, thanks to Navelle, we were awake for sunrise. it was beautiful! just to have SUN was beautiful!
We took a trip to the top of Sandia Mountain. Here are Jes and Paul basking in the sunny and expansive views.
Navelle busied herself with walking on the treacherously slippery ice and snow. Gabe kept busy making sure she didn't slide off the mountain or into a rock wall.
Three species of Rosy-Finches congregate in the Sandia Mountains during the winter time. It's a unique opportunity to view the different species and forms. As chance would have it, a group of ornithologists was banding the birds on the day we went. Lina had the chance to hold and then release a Black Rosy-Finch. so cool!
Grandad, Navelle, and Gabe on a sunny and windy walk. Navelle loved wearing her sunglasses for the first time and kept them on for the entire outing. They came in handy later when she dropped gravel on her face -- the sunglasses kept the gravel from going into her eyes.
Navelle and her Grandad played a new game together. Navelle put gravel into the pumpkin bucket and then Grandad shook the bucket and sang "shake and bake." Navelle requested this over and over and over again.
